Inspired by Dr. Sanjay Patel’s father, Shankar Patel, who lived a simple life after earning his MBBS degree, the Mayflower Foundation was established… with a mission to give back to society. Shankal Patel’s selfless dedication to serving his community, never charging patients for his medical services, laid the foundation for the ethos of altruism within the foundation. In 2007, the foundation began its journey, initially offering medical services at minimal cost, around rupees 1000 for surgeries. Shankal Patel strongly believed in the power of education and instilled this value in his sons, Sanjay Patel and his brother, who provided free tuition to numerous children, particularly those aspiring to enter the medical field. And now Dr. Smeet Patel continues to walk the path and uphold the legacy of service initiated by his father and grandfather.

Dr. Smeet Patel’s journey is marked by remarkable dedication and surgical expertise. Renowned for his exceptional skills, patients from all over the world seek him out for specialized surgeries, especially for treating endometriosis. So far Dr. Patel has performed over 5000 surgeries but his vision goes beyond medical intervention; he envisions a world where every woman receives effective and personalized treatment and support, regardless of their background or financial means.
As the son of Dr. Shankar Patel, I grew up witnessing the profound impact of my father’s selfless dedication to serving our community. His commitment to providing medical care without expecting anything in return deeply influenced my own journey. Inspired by his example, my brother and I founded the Mayflower Foundation with a simple mission: to give back to society. Our foundation began its journey in 2007, rooted in the values of compassion and altruism instilled by our father. Today, I am proud to see my son, Dr. Smeet Patel, continuing this legacy of service, carrying forward the torch of compassion that our family has upheld for generations.
